March is a dynamic month for significant new beginnings. A planetary line-up continues in Aquarius and Pisces, providing us with more opportunities to express our spirituality, creativity and higher ideals. A direct station of Mars, the New Moon in Pisces and the Spring Equinox in mid-month signify important times for moving forward with new projects and goals.

We are now in the waning phase of the February Aquarius new moon, which favors communications, equality, humanitarian pursuits, innovations, networking and community. It is time to complete projects and distill our learning in these areas. The Virgo full moon on February 28 brings additional focus to the areas of work, service and health for the next two weeks of this lunation period.

On March 3 Venus aligns with Uranus in Pisces, creating sparks of attraction to draw together like-minded souls. This is a favorable day for socializing, networking, and finding our own unique expression. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter in Pisces on March 7, which favors artistic inspiration, creative visualization and healing. Venus enters Aries on March 7 (until April), signaling a time for new beginnings in relationships and finances. On March 9 a Venus/Saturn opposition in Aries/Libra may bring up relationship conflicts relating to freedom/closeness dilemmas. An open and compassionate dialogue can bring new clarity and resolution.

Mars turning direct on March 10, at 0 degrees of Leo, is a green light allowing us to move forward in all life areas. The best timing will be in the first two weeks of the upcoming new moon. Mars will be in fiery Leo until early June, encouraging us to take more confident, assertive and creative steps to fulfill our goals and dreams. What life area is calling you to "make a statement" or be recognized for your expertise? Mars is in sextile to Saturn for the rest of March, which provides the perseverance and structure to stay on course.

The New Moon occurs on March 15 at 25 Pisces. Both Mercury and Uranus are aligned with this lunation, giving it a highly charged emotional overtone that is both inspiring and unpredictable. Dreams and intuition can be very revealing and provide profound guidance at this time; journaling one's messages can be both satisfying and productive. Other Pisces themes include liquids, the ocean, fishing, drugs and religion; and being sensitive, mystical, visionary, passive, compassionate, escapist and artistic. It is also favorable to contemplate where we can seek forgiveness of self/others and what can be released. The Sabian Symbol for this degree suggests the timing is right to move forward with new projects.

From March 17-20 Mercury in Aries in a challenging aspect to Saturn and Pluto may bring communication difficulties. There may be too much control and not enough cooperation in certain areas. However, a favorable trine to Mars in Leo suggests that taking a creative or playful approach can bring greater balance. It is beneficial to strive for a collaboration that honors the uniqueness of each individual.

The Spring Equinox on March 20 is the beginning of the astrological New Year, when the sun aligns with 0 degrees of Aries. This is another excellent time to launch new projects and goals, especially since we are still in the waxing phase of the moon. This year the harmonious trine to Mars provides a zestful creative drive to all new beginnings, while the sextile to Saturn assures adequate structure and organization.

The Full Moon occurs on March 29 at 9 Libra. Libra themes include relationships, social events, diplomacy and equality; and being refined, diplomatic, indecisive, placating and artistic. In which life areas can we bring more balance and equilibrium? This lunation is in a challenging square to Pluto, which suggests an underlying power/control theme for the next few weeks. Pluto is also intensified now as it prepares to go stationary retrograde on April 6. However, a Venus/Neptune sextile on the same day brings in some refinement and grace to our relationships. The Sabian symbol for this degree states "having passed safely through narrow rapids, a canoe reaches calm waters." We can now bring in the self-control and poise necessary to reach a steady state of inner stability. Happy Spring Equinox!
